Covid-19 Guidelines

Moving Forward with Covid-19

Massage therapy involves maintained touch and close proximity over an extended period of time.  Therefore, there may be an elevated risk of disease transmission, including Covid-19.  In order to enusre the saftey of you and your family should you choose to continue receiving massage treatments, I would like to share what new protocols for hygienic practices I will be implementing, moving forward.  These guidelines have been established by The State Medical Board of Ohio, (SMBO),The Associated Bodywork and Massage Professionals, (ABMP), The Federation of State Massage Therapy Boards, (FSMTB), and The Centers For Disease Control and Prevention, (CDC).

Amid the ongoing uncertainty of Covid-19, I have updated my cancellation policy to all of my clients.  I hope this will alleviate any stress or hesitation you may have about an upcoming appointment.  If you need to reschedule for any reason, and especially if you are not feeling well, I understand and request that you please contact me as soon as possible to reschedule.  To further support you, there will be no penalties for cancellation at this time.

  • Your temperature will be taken before entering the treatment room. I will use a non contact thermometer in order to do so. If your temperature is 100.4 or above, we will not be able to proceed with your appointment. It may be rescheduled, with caution, after three weeks.

  • Everyone has a new form to read and sign, please allow time for this.

  • I have provided a HEPA air purifier for the office.  This filter will be running during your treatment, and set on a timer at the end of the night.

  • I will provide a sanitized plastic tub for your clothes and other belongings.

  • Masks must be worn by both of us. If you do not have a mask, I will provide one for you, either cloth or disposable. Don't worry, when you are faced down, you may pull your mask down, as I will have a pillow case coning through the headrest to capture any breath particles being exhaled.

  • I am allowing 30 minutes after every appointment to deep clean the office, including the table, doorknobs, chairs, my cell phone for payment processing, the clip board, the pens used, massage bottles, ect.

  • I will wear either a fresh apron or smock or even a whole new outfit for your massage treatment, to make sure there is zero to minimal exchange of this dastardly virus.

  • I strongly suggest that we BOTH wash our hands thoroughly before and after your treatment. Hand sanitizer will also be provided.

Since we are all discovering new and evolving information about the complications of this infection, I must let you know that there is a red flag for massage therapists, one that has caused many LMTs to halt their careers both temporarily and permanently. The role of blood clotting in Covid-19 has caused grave concern, as we are still unsure what affect massage may have with someone who may be asymptomatic.

For this reason, any new skin lesions or sign of stroke or pulmonary embolism are reasons to go directly to the emergency room.

For clients who have already tested positive in the past for Covid-19, I would appreciate you letting me know during the consultation, so that we can discuss the best treatment plan for you.  If you experience any dire symptoms after receiving a massage from me, I would greatly appreciate a follow up phone call to assist in monitoring the effects of massage and Covid-19.
